Gnawa inside a world gathering

The second World Folklore Days festival brought ensembles and cultural practitioners together in Marrakech for four days of performance, workshops and exchange. Khalil Mounji’s documented participation placed Gnawa music within that international conversation: as a living practice carried through guembri, rhythm, memory and encounter.

Transmission and collaboration

The surviving video archive connects this appearance to the work of Gnaoua Culture and Kalimba Project. The focus is less on presenting tradition as a fixed display than on creating a space where musicians, audiences and other forms of heritage can meet.

Dates and venue are verified by the Instituto Cervantes programme. Performance documentation: official video archive and Khalil Mounji’s Facebook album.
